रायवाला(देहरादून)। राजाजी टाइगर रिर्जव से सटे ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में हाथियों का उत्पात लगातार बढ़ रहा है। बुधवार रात प्रतीतनगर के वार्ड नंबर आठ में आए एक हाथी ने यहां राजेंद्र सिंह के घर की बाउंड्रीवाल तोड़ दी और आंगन में घुसकर घर के पास बोई मक्के की फसल चट कर दी। दरअसल, हाथियों की नजर धान और मक्का की फसल पर है। आए दिन हाथी खेतों में घुसकर धान की फसल को बर्बाद कर रहे हैं, जिससे काश्तकार न केवल परेशान हैं, बल्कि जानमाल के नुकसान का खतरा भी बना हुआ है।

ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि शाम ढलते ही हाथी खेतों की तरफ रूख कर जाते हैं। हाथी एक बार में ही कई बीघा फसल बर्बाद कर देते हैं। इससे पहले हाथी ने खैरीकलां में धान की फसल को नुकसान पहुंचाया। वहीं क्षेत्र पंचायत सदस्य ज्योति जुगलान ने दूरभाष पर पार्क निदेशक को हाथी के बढ़ते उत्पात की जानकारी दी।

उन्होंने इको विकास समिति के माध्यम से सुरक्षा प्रहरी रखे जाने की मांग की। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि बीते वर्ष छह व्यक्तियों को सुरक्षा प्रहरी तैनात किया गया था, इससे जनता को काफी राहत मिली। लेकिन इस बार विभाग ने अब तक ऐसा कोई सुरक्षा इंतजाम नहीं किया, जिसका खामियाजा जनता को भुगतना पड़ रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि हाथी के रिहायशी क्षेत्र में आने से जान-माल का खतरा भी बना हुआ है।

इन क्षेत्रों में है हाथी का आतंक

मोतीचूर चीला कारीडोर से सटे खांडगांव, हरिपुरकलां, रायवाला गांव, प्रतीतनगर, खैरीकलां, ठाकुरपुर, खदरी खड़गमाफ, साहबनगर, चकजोगीवाला, भट्टोंवाला, जोगीवालामाफी में हाथी का आतंक फैला हुआ है। इन गांवों में हाथी अब तक कई बीघा धान बर्बाद कर चुके हैं।

खाई और ऊर्जा तारबाड़ है जरूरी

राजाजी पार्क सटे खेतों में न केवल हाथी बल्कि सुंवर, नीलगाय, हिरन आदि जंगली जानवर भी फसल को नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं। इसकी रोकथाम के लिए जंगल की सीमा पर खाई खोदना, ऊर्जा तारबाड़ लगाना व प्रकाश की व्यवस्था करना जरूरी है।
