उत्तराखंड के बड़कोट वन रेंज की जाखन बीट में गुर्जर बस्ती के एक किशोर के सामने हाथी आ गया। हमलावर हाथी ने किशोर को पटक दिया। जिससे किशोर की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई।

माजरी ग्रांट के लालतप्पड़ क्षेत्र में बड़कोट वन रेंज की जाखन बीट में गुर्जर बस्ती है। शुक्रवार की शाम को इस्लामु (15) पुत्र शफी बाजार से कुछ सामान खरीदने के बाद बस्ती में वापस आ रहा था। इसी दौरान जंगल क्षेत्र में एक हाथी उसके सामने आ गया। बदहवास किशोर इधर-उधर भागने का प्रयास करते हुए झाडियों में उलझ गया। इसी दौरान हाथी ने किशोर को उठाकर पटक दिया, जिससे किशोर की मौत हो गई।

सूचना मिलते ही देर शाम बड़कोट रेंजर धीरज रावत स्टाफ के साथ मौके पर पहुंचे। रेंजर ने बताया कि संभवत: हाथी अपने झुंड से अलग होकर आ गया था। बताया कि परिजनों के मना करने पर शव का पोस्टमार्टम नहीं कराया गया है। जरूरी औपचारिकताओं को पूरा करने के बाद शव परिजनों को सौंपा गया है। बताया कि पीड़ित परिवार को मुआवजा राशि दिलाने के लिए प्रयास किया जाएगा।

माजरी ग्रांट में जंगली हाथियों का झुंड आए दिन आबादी की ओर रुख कर रहा है। बीते रोज हाथियों के झुंड ने किसानों की कई बीघा धान की फसल को क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिया। वन सीमा से सटे माजरी ग्रांट के कई गांवों में खेतों में खड़ी फसलें हाथियों के निशाने पर है। रात में हाथियों का झुंड खेतों में पहुंचकर तैयार हो रही धान, गन्ना, चारे आदि की फसल को नुकसान पहुंचा रहा है। भाजपा के माजरी ग्रांट मंडल अध्यक्ष और पूर्व प्रधान राजकुमार के कई बीघा धान के खेतों को रौंदकर क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिया है। उन्होंने बताया कि अक्सर खेतों में हाथी घुस रहा है। रेंजर धीरज रावत ने बताया कि जंगली हाथियों को आबादी से खदेड़ने के लिए विभागीय गश्ती दल को सक्रिय कर दिया गया। आबादी में हाथी आने पर लोगों से तत्काल सूचना देने के लिए कहा गया है।
