देश में सोमवार से पांच हजार से अधिक सरकारी एवं निजी जूनियर हाईस्कूल खुल गए हैं। हालांकि पहले दिन अपेक्षाकृत कम संख्या में छात्र-छात्राएं स्कूलों में पहुंचे हैं।बेसिक शिक्षा निदेशक रामकृष्ण उनियाल के मुताबिक स्कूलों को खोले जाने एवं कोविड गाइड लाइन का पालन किए जाने के लिए सभी मुख्य शिक्षा अधिकारियों को निर्देश जारी किए गए हैं। बता दें कि प्रदेश में 2618 सरकारी जूनियर हाईस्कूल हैं, 206 सहायता प्राप्त, 12 अन्य सरकारी एवं 2616 निजी स्कूल हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि अधिकारियों को कहा गया है कि स्कूलों में स्वच्छता का विशेष ध्यान रखा जाए। प्रदेश में पांच हजार से अधिक सरकारी, सहायता प्राप्त एवं निजी स्कूल हैं। शासन की ओर से पूर्व में इन स्कूलों को दो अगस्त से खोलने के आदेश हुए थे, लेकिन बाद में निर्णय लिया गया कि दो अगस्त के बजाए इन स्कूलों को 16 अगस्त से खोला गया है।विभाग ने दो अगस्त से 9वीं से 12वीं तक के स्कूलों को खोला था। जबकि अब सभी जूनियर हाईस्कूलों को खोला गया है। हालांकि, अभी प्राथमिक विद्यालय नहीं खुलेंगे। स्कूल खोले जाने को लेकर शासन की ओर से जारी एसओपी के मुताबिक यदि कोई छात्र बिना मास्क स्कूल आता है तो ऐसे छात्र-छात्राओं के लिए स्कूल को मास्क की व्यवस्था करनी होगी।स्कूल खुलने के दौरान सभी शिक्षकों, कर्मचारियों एवं छात्रों के लिए मास्क पहनना अनिवार्य होगा। वहीं सोमवार को खुलने से पहले सभी स्कूलों को सैनिटाइज किया गया।
