देहरादून। उत्तराखंड के उच्च हिमालई क्षेत्रों में ग्लेशियरों के टूटने, भूस्खलन से बनने वाली झीलोें की मॉनिटरिंग के लिए वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ हिमालयन जियोलॉजी की ओर से ग्लेशियरों के नीचे नदियों में वॉटर लेवल रिकॉर्डर लगाए जाएंगे। इससे न सिर्फ नदियों में जनप्रवाह की मॉनिटरिंग की जाएगी, वरन जलप्रवाह अचानक तेज होने का भी आकलन किया जाएगा।

नदियों में वॉटर लेवल रिकॉर्डर लगाए जाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू
वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट के निदेशक डॉ. कालाचांद सांई के मुताबिक अभी उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में नदियों के जलप्रवाह की मॉनिटरिंग का कोई प्रभावी तंत्र विकसित नहीं है।

ऐसे में ग्लेशियरों के टूटने या फिर हिमस्खलन के चलते बनने वाली झीलों, नदियों के जलप्रवाह की मॉनिटरिंग के लिए नदियों में वॉटर लेवल रिकॉर्डर लगाए जाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू की गई है।

प्राकृतिक आपदाओं का पूर्वानुमान लगाने में सहूलियत होंगी
पहले चरण में गंगोत्री, ढोकरियानी और दूनागिरी जैसे ग्लेशियरों के पास वॉटर लेवल रिकॉर्डर लगाने की तैयारी है।

यदि ग्लेशियरों के तेजी से पिघलने या टूटने के बाद नदियों के जलप्रवाह में अचानक बढ़ोतरी होती है तो वॉटर लेवल रिकॉर्डर के जरिए पता चल जाएगा। इसके साथ ही यदि नदियों के जलस्तर में तेजी से कमी आती है तो इसका भी आकलन किया जाएगा। इससे प्राकृतिक आपदाओं का पूर्वानुमान लगाने में थोड़ी सहूलियतें होंगी।

ग्लेशियरों के आसपास अर्ली वॉर्निंग सिस्टम भी लगाए गए हैं
बता दें कि पिछले साल चमोली की नीती घाटी में ग्लेशियर टूटने के बाद आयी भयावह प्राकृतिक आपदा के बाद डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ साइंस एंड टेक्नोलॉजी (डीएसटी) और वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ हिमालयन जियोलॉजी की ओर से उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में आने वाली प्राकृतिक आपदाओं का अध्ययन करने व पूर्वानुमान लगाने को लेकर तमाम कदम उठाए जा रहे हैं।

इसमें ग्लेशियरों के आसपास अर्ली वॉर्निंग सिस्टम समेत अन्य अत्याधुनिक उपकरणों को भी लगाया जाना शामिल है।
