नई दिल्ली/चंडीगढ़. कांग्रेस (Congress) की पंजाब (Punjab) इकाई के वरिष्ठ नेता चरणजीत सिंह चन्नी (charanjit singh channi) को रविवार को पार्टी विधायक दल का नया नेता चुना गया और अब वह राज्य के अगले मुख्यमंत्री होंगे. सोमवार को 11 बजे उनका शपथ ग्रहण समारोह होगा. कांग्रेस के पंजाब प्रभारी हरीश रावत ने बताया कि चन्नी को कांग्रेस विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया. इससे पहले रावत ने ट्वीट किया, ‘यह घोषणा करते हुए मुझे बहुत खुशी हो रही है कि चरणजीत सिंह चन्नी को सर्वसम्मति से कांग्रेस विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया.’

सूत्रों का कहना है कि प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू  ने चन्नी के नाम की जोरदार पैरवी की और फिर राहुल गांधी ने दिल्ली में लंबी मंत्रणा के बाद चन्नी के नाम को मंजूरी दी. चन्नी दलित सिख समुदाय से आते हैं और अमरिंदर सरकार में तकनीकी शिक्षा मंत्री थे. वह रूपनगर जिले के चमकौर साहिब विधानसभा क्षेत्र से विधायक हैं

बता दें अमरिंदर सिंह ने शनिवार को मुख्यमंत्री पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था और कहा था कि विधायकों की बार-बार बैठक बुलाए जाने से उन्होंने अपमानित महसूस किया, जिसके बाद उन्होंने यह कदम उठाया.
