29 साल से बंद पड़ी लखवाड़ बहुद्देशीय परियोजना फिर शुरू होगी। केंद्रीय जल शक्ति मंत्रालय की व्यय वित्त समिति में परियोजना पास हो गई है। अब केंद्रीय कैबिनेट की मुहर लगनी बाकी है। इस परियोजना से उत्तराखंड, यूपी, हिमाचल, राजस्थान, हरियाणा और दिल्ली को बिजली-पानी मिलेगा।

दरअसल, लखवाड़ बहुद्देशीय परियोजना को सरकार ने वर्ष 1976 में मंजूरी दी थी। लेकिन परियोजना का काम वर्ष 1992 में रोक दिया गया था। 300 मेगावाट की इस परियोजना को दोबारा शुरू करने के लिए नेशनल ग्रीन ट्रिब्यूनल के निर्देशानुसार पर्यावरण वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय ने इसी साल फरवरी में पर्यावरणीय स्वीकृति प्रदान कर दी थी।

अब ऊर्जा मंत्री डॉ. हरक सिंह रावत लगातार परियोजना को आगे बढ़ाने में जुटे हुए थे। हाल ही में उन्होंने दिल्ली स्थित केंद्रीय जल शक्ति मंत्रालय जल शक्ति मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने परियोजना के लिए व्यय वित्त समिति को लेकर बात की।

मंत्रालय की व्यय वित्त समिति ने परियोजना पर मुहर लगा दी है। अब लखवाड़ परियोजना को लेकर मंत्रालय, केंद्रीय कैबिनेट में प्रस्ताव लेकर जाएगा। यहां से मुहर लगने के बाद परियोजना पर काम शुरू हो जाएगा। 5700 करोड़ की इस परियोजना पर 90 प्रतिशत खर्च केंद्र सरकार को करना है जबकि 10 प्रतिशत खर्च उत्तराखंड सहित सभी छह राज्यों को करना है।
