आपदा की रात पुल से नीचे गिरी कार में सवार एक व्यक्ति की इलाज के दौरान मौत हो गई। हिमालयन अस्पताल में उनका इलाज चल रहा था। अन्य चार लोगों की हालत सामान्य बताई जा रही है। पुलिस ने शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए मोर्चरी में रखवा दिया है।

घटना शुक्रवार देर रात आपदा प्रभावित गांव सोडा सरोली में हुई थी। भारी बारिश से सौंग नदी के पुल की एप्रोच रोड टूट गई थी। रात करीब साढ़े तीन बजे देहरादून निवासी सतेंद्र बुटोला कार से अपने पिता की अंत्येष्टि में रुद्रप्रयाग जा रहे थे। कार में उनकी पत्नी कृष्णा बुटोला, बेटा सार्थक और दो भाई देवेंद्र व पंकज बुटोला भी सवार थे।

रात के अंधेरे और भारी बारिश के बीच उन्हें टूटी एप्रोच रोड दिखाई नहीं दी और कार नदी में जा गिरी। करीब चार घंटे बाद उनकी कार को स्थानीय लोगों ने देखा तो एसडीआरएफ ने कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद बाहर निकाला। सभी लोग घायल थे। इन्हें जौलीग्रांट स्थित हिमालयन अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। एसडीआरएफ की जनसंपर्क अधिकारी ललिता नेगी ने बताया कि इनमें से पंकज बुटोला (58) की बुधवार को मृत्यु हो गई। पोस्टमार्टम के बाद शव परिजनों के सुपुर्द किया जाएगा।
