देहरादून। नेशनल गेम्स के पांचवें और अंतिम दिन उत्तराखंड की झोली में एक स्वर्ण पदक आ ही गया। मंगलवार को एथलेटिक्स में 35 किमी वॉक रेस में पायल ने महिला वर्ग में पहला स्थान प्राप्त किया। जबकि पुरुष वर्ग में चंदन ने कांस्य पदक जीता। ये राज्य के लिए बड़ी उपलब्धि है।

उत्तराखंड एथलेटिक्स संघ के सचिव जेएस कलसी ने बताया कि यूएस सिंह नगर की रहने वाली पायल ने एथलेटिक्स का ककहरा साईं सेंटर काशीपुर में चंदन सिंह नेगी से सीखा। पिछले कुछ वर्षों से वह बेंगलुरु में उत्तराखंड के रहने वाले दो बार के ओलंपियन गुरमीत सिंह से कोचिंग प्राप्त कर रही हैं। वहीं 35 किलो मीटर रेस वॉक के पुरुष वर्ग में चंदन सिंह ने ब्रोंज मेडल प्राप्त किया। वह इस बार सर्विस की टीम से खेले हैं। एथलेटिक्स कोच अनूप बिष्ट ने दोनों को बधाई दी है।
