जोशीमठ की तलहटी में अलकनंदा भू-कटाव (टो-इरोजन) कर रही है। इसके लिए यहां नदी के किनारे डेढ़ किमी लंबी कंक्रीट की दीवार बनाई जानी है। लेकिन अभी तक इसकी डीपीआर तैयार नहीं हो पाई है। अगस्त माह में शासन के अधिकारियों और विशेषज्ञों की टीम ने जोशीमठ का दौरा किया था।

सितंबर माह में इस टीम ने जो रिपोर्ट शासन को सौंपी थी, उसमें नदी किनारें रिटेनिंग वॉल बनाने जाने का उल्लेख किया गया था। इसके बाद शासन ने सिंचाई विभाग को डीपीआर तैयार करने के निर्देश दिए थे। लेकिन अभी तक डीपीआर तैयार नहीं हो पाई है।

इसमें नदी के किनारे डेढ़ किमी लंबी क्रंकीट की दीवार बनाई जानी है। एक दीवार अलकनंदा नदी पर 900 मीटर लंबी और जबकि दूसरी दीवार धौलीगंगा में 600 मीटर लंबी बनाई जानी है। यह दीवार आठ मीटर ऊंची होगी। हालांकि फाइनल लंबाई, चौड़ाई और ऊंचाई डीपीआर बनने के बाद ही सामने आएगी। माना जा रहा है कि इस दीवार के बनने से जोशीमठ के नीचले हिस्सें में हो रहे भू-कटाव को काफी हद तक रोका जा सकेगा।

सिंचाई विभाग से रिटेनिंग वॉल की डीपीआर बनाने को कहा गया है। आज कल में डीपीआर सौंपी जानी थी, लेकिन अभी नहीं मिल पाई है। विभाग की ओर से एक-दो दिन का और समय मांगा गया है। जैसे ही डीपीआर फाइनल हो जाएगी, उसके बाद टेंडर आमंत्रित किए जाएंगे। – डॉ. रंजीत सिन्हा, सचिव आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग
