उत्तराखंड में संघ लोक सेवा आयोग(यूपीएससी) का सिविल सेवा पैटर्न लागू होने के बाद पीसीएस मुख्य परीक्षा में कई बड़े बदलाव हो जाएंगे। एक ओर जहां उम्मीदवारों को सात के बजाए नौ पेपर देने होंगे तो दूसरी ओर उन्हें एक पसंदीदा विषय चुनने की आजादी भी मिलेगी। यूपीएससी का पैटर्न हूबहू लागू हुआ तो अंग्रेजी की अनिवार्यता हो जाएगी।

यूपीएससी ने सिविल सेवा प्री परीक्षा में सी-सैट के पेपर को क्वालिफाइंग कर दिया था, जो कि राज्य की पीसीएस परीक्षा में भी पिछले साल से ही क्वालिफाइंग कर दिया गया था। यानी इन पेपरों में केवल पासिंग मार्क्स लाने होंगे। मुख्य परीक्षा में भी दो पेपर क्वालिफाइंग होंगे, जिनके अंक मेरिट में नहीं जुड़ेंगे। अभी तक राज्य के पैटर्न के हिसाब से जो सात पेपर होते थे, उन सभी के अंक मेरिट में जुड़ते थे लेकिन नए पैटर्न में नौ पेपर होंगे, जिनमें से सात के अंक ही मेरिट में जोड़े जाएंगे।

परीक्षा विशेषज्ञ प्रयाग आईएएस एकेडमी के निदेशक आरए खान का कहना है कि आयोग अगर अंग्रेजी की जगह हिंदी करे और दूसरे किसी स्थानीय भाषा के पेपर को शामिल करे तो यहां के युवाओं के लिए बेहतर हो सकता है। हालांकि उन्होंने कहा कि निश्चित तौर पर सिविल सेवा परीक्षा पैटर्न लागू करने से युवाओं को दो अलग परीक्षाओं की अलग तैयारी करने से मुक्ति मिलेगी। उन्हें अपने पसंदीदा विषय में भी परीक्षा देने का विकल्प मिलेगा।
