भाजपा की जन आशीर्वाद यात्रा के खिलाफ भारतीय किसान यूनियन के चढूनी-टिकैत समर्थकों का कई घंटों तक काशीपुर हाईवे पर कब्जा रहा। जैसे ही यात्रा आने की भनक किसानों को लगी वह बड़ी संख्या में काशीपुर हाईवे पर खड़े हो गए और अलग-अलग टोलियां बनाकर काले झंडे दिखाने के लिए कूच करने लगे। इसे देखकर पुलिस बल व किसानों के बीच जमकर धक्का-मुक्की हुई और पुलिस बामुश्किल किसानों को गिरफ्तार कर थानों में ले गई।सूत्रों की मानें तो पुलिस ने करीब 300 किसानों को गिरफ्तार किया है। निजी मुचलकों पर किसान नेता और समर्थकों को छोड़ दिया गया। केंद्रीय राज्यमंत्री एवं सांसद अजय भट्ट की मौजूदगी में जन आशीर्वाद यात्रा काशीपुर से रुद्रपुर आना निर्धारित था। इसके खिलाफ भारतीय किसान यूनियन चढूनी के जिलाध्यक्ष साहब सिंह और भाकियू टिकैत के अलावा तराई किसान संगठन के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष तजिंदर सिंह विर्क ने केंद्रीय राज्यमंत्री की यात्रा का पुरजोर विरोध करते हुए काले झंडे दिखाने का ऐलान कर दिया था।

बुधवार की सुबह ग्यारह बजे से ही काशीपुर हाईवे स्थित ग्रीन पार्क के समीप एकत्रित होने लगे। जहां पहले से ही मौजूद भारी पुलिस बल को देखकर किसानों ने तत्काल रणनीति बदलते हुए अलग-अलग टोलियों में काले झंडे लेकर छिपने लगे। जब दोपहर ढाई बजे यात्रा आने की भनक लगी तो किसानों और पुलिस के बीच धक्का-मुक्की शुरू होने लगी। वहीं करीब 300 किसानों की गिरफ्तारी से गुस्साये किसानों ने हाईवे पर ही धरना प्रदर्शन और जाम लगा दिया।जन आशीर्वाद यात्रा का विरोध कर रहे किसानों के तीखे तेवर और बदलती रणनीति के आगे पुलिस प्रशासन और एलआईयू की सारी योजनाएं फेल हो गयी। सैकड़ों किसानों की गिरफ्तारी के बाद भी किसानों ने केंद्रीय राज्यमंत्री को काले झंडे दिखाकर पुलिस की रणनीति को विफल कर दिया। पुलिस ने बड़ी मशक्कत के बाद लगभग तीन सौ किसानों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया।
