वैज्ञानिकों की ओर से नवंबर माह में जारी की गई 27 पन्नों की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि जोशीमठ नगर के नीचे अलकनंदा नदी से हो रहे कटाव के साथ ही नगर में सीवेज और ड्रेनेज की उचित व्यवस्था नहीं होने से जमीन धंस रही है। वैज्ञानिकों की टीम की ओर से कराए गए सर्वे की रिपोर्ट में यह बात सामने आई है।

नगर क्षेत्र जोशीमठ में हो रहे भू-धंसाव का प्रमुख कारण नगर के नीचे अलकनंदा नदी से हो रहा कटाव, क्षेत्र में ड्रेनेज सिस्टम और सीवेज की व्यवस्था नहीं होना है। अगस्त माह में वैज्ञानिकों की टीम की ओर से कराए गए सर्वे की रिपोर्ट में यह बात सामने आई है।

जोशीमठ क्षेत्र के कई क्षेत्रों में जमीन धंस रही है। यहां रविग्राम, गांधी नगर और सुनील गांव में भू-धंसाव हो रहा है लेकिन हाल ही में मनोहर बाग वार्ड में भी जमीन धंसने से मकानों में दरारें आ गई हैं। स्थानीय लोगों की मांग पर राज्य आपदा प्राधिकरण की ओर से वैज्ञानिकों की टीम गठित कर क्षेत्र में सर्वेक्षण कराया गया।

वैज्ञानिकों की टीम ने 16 से 19 अगस्त तक नगर का सर्वे किया था। वैज्ञानिकों की ओर से नवंबर माह में जारी की गई 27 पन्नों की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि जोशीमठ नगर के नीचे अलकनंदा नदी से हो रहे कटाव के साथ ही नगर में सीवेज और ड्रेनेज की उचित व्यवस्था नहीं होने से जमीन धंस रही है।

सचिव आपदा प्रबंधन ने दिए हैं डीपीआर बनाने के निर्देश
वैज्ञानिकों की रिपोर्ट आने के बाद नवंबर महीने में ही देहरादून में सचिव आपदा प्रबंधन एवं पुनर्वास विभाग की अध्यक्षता में विभागों की बैठक हुई जिसमें सचिव ने राज्य आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण, सिंचाई विभाग व केंद्रीय अनुसंधान संस्थान नगर में सुरक्षात्मक कार्यों के लिए रिपोर्ट के आधार पर डीपीआर तैयार करने को कहा है। इससे नगर में सुरक्षात्मक उपायों को लेकर लोगों में उम्मीद जगी है।10 प्रतिशत परिवार ही जुड़े हैं सीवेज योजना से 
नगर पालिका अध्यक्ष शैलेंद्र पंवार ने बताया कि नगर क्षेत्र में मात्र 10 प्रतिशत परिवार ही सीवेज लाइन से जुड़ पाए हैं। 90 प्रतिशत परिवारों के घरों का पानी पिट में जा रहा है जबकि वैज्ञानिकों की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि धू-धंसाव का मुख्य कारण सीवेज और ड्रेनेज नहीं होना बताया गया है। नगर में दो सीवेज ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट कार्य कर रहे हैं। इससे अधिक से अधिक परिवारों के सीवेज लाइन जोड़ने के प्रयास किए जाएंगे।
